With controversy surrounding pageantry people often wonder why, as women, we choose to subjectify ourselves to the 'conditions' that we do... And even more so as a 'mrs' entrant. With a husband and (more often than not) children to support at home, a house to clean, our regular days jobs in addition to the community service work that so many of us do why do we choose to add more to our plate?! It's simple! Although we have other obligations to fulfill we still have the right to dream... The right to care about our community, our health and fitness and how we present ourselves. We deserve the privilege of standing on a national and international stage and showing those around us who we truly are and what we truly stand for It's not about the hair, the shoes and the gowns. It's not about attention. While I can't speak for everybody I can speak for myself... Since I started competing in pageantry I have been able to do more for my charity and community than ever before. I have gained the confidence that I require to be successful in every aspect of my life but most importantly, I have become the perfect role model for my young daughters. They will grow up knowing that inner beauty shines brightest, anything is possible with dedication and hard work and even more importantly - it's okay to dream and to dream big because dreams CAN come true.
With that said - I challenge you...
I challenge you to dream. To inspire. I challenge you to live!
