Juggling Family and other commitments can be a challenge and im often ask the question "How do you do it".
As a board director for multiple charities, fundraiser, community leader, pageant title holder as Mrs Oceania International via the International pageant System, business owner, employee and most importantly, mother of 2 beautiful girls and wife to a wonderful husband, i have found the best way to mamage my day is through time management!
35 % To start off with, i compile priority lists so i have a clear understanding of what needs to be done and when said task is due. So obviously, if i have a media report due in 2 days and a speech to write for an event in 2 weeks the report will be given priority.
While this priority listing is crucial is doesnt always go to plan. As any mother will be able to tell you, children are unpredictable. Something can arise at any given time and this will take priority over everything else thats needs doing.
For example, if your child wakes up sick it can put your day on hiatis. How can you combat this?!
Ive found the most simple and effective method is to have my ipad on hand! Through the use of my ipad i am able to cuddle my child and comfort them until the are content or asleep and instead of moving away from them and possibly disturbing them i am able to continue on with my work! My media responses can be written out as can my speech for an upcoming event.
With the wonderful world of WiFi at our fingertips i can also still gain access to the internet to carry out vital research or update my social media accounts.
If an errand needs to be run i am fortunate enough to have my supportive and dedicated husband, Ricardo, at my 'disposal'. Owning our own business means we have a certain amount of flexibiltiy with our schedule and therefore allows Ricardo the option to stop by the post office to have documents mailed or into the grovery store to pick up some fresh bread and milk.
Another simple tool that allows me to time manage is an application called 'hootsuite' which links all my social media accounts together and uploads them at the one time.
This then means i am not required to log into each social media site and publish the same status mulitple times. Although this may only save 5 minutes here and there that creates those extra 5 minutes i need to finish off another task or 5 minutes extra i get to spend with my family!
Social media can also be a great tool when it comes to marketing. Gone are the days where you were required to spend hours walking the streets with mailbox drops! Via facebook, you can create an event, invite guests to attend and provide updates in only a few minutes!
At the end of every day though i always ensure that i have spent time with both my children and my husband and they are and will remain my number one priority. Their needs will be put before all others as their happiness ensures my success in the world outside of my home.
