Serious fan moment meeting this amazing and inspirational woman, Christine Anu at the Ropes Crossing 10 year Anniversary Fair.
In many of my campaigns or introductions I use a very popular song "My Island Home" by Christine Anu.
Although we (myself and my family) will be leaving Australia and moving to the United States once our affairs are in order i want everyone to know that Australia is and will forever remain "my island home" no matter where or which country i reside in.
Australia has played such a crucial role in allowing me to be the woman I am today and I am proud to be an Australian.
I am proud to say that Australia was the second country to allow women to vote and this assisted in paving the way for women to receive equal rights in this area across the globe!
Australia is a land of opportunity and full of remarkable, caring and inspiration individuals such as Christine and i look forward to heading over to Jacksonville in just over 2 weeks and sharing everything about my island home and its people!
My island Home Lyrics - Extract:
Six years I've been in the city And every night I dream of the sea They say home is where you find it Will this place ever satisfy me For I come from the saltwater people We always live by the sea Now I'm down here living in the city With my man and my family
My island Home (Repeat)
In the evening the dry wind blows From the hills and across the plain I close my eyes and I'm standing In a boat on the sea again And I'm holding that long turtle spear
